Fr. Joseph P. Annese, MA, Pastor, was born in Brighton, Massachusetts. He is the eighth child of nine children. Fr. Joe, as he is known in the community, spent his seminary years in the Divine Word Seminary system. He was ordained in 1962. Father was then assigned to teach in a high school seminary in Erie, Pa., then in Bordentown, New Jersey, and finally in Verbum Dei High School in Watts, California. In the course of these years Fr. Joe spent his summers at Catholic University in Washington, DC working on his Master Degree in Drama and Speech. He earned his degree in 1970. Fr. Joe joined the Diocese of Reno/Las Vegas in 1971. He was an associate pastor at St. James Parish in Las Vegas for one year and then associate pastor at St. Christopher’s Parish in North Las Vegas for five years. In 1978 Bishop Norman McFarland assigned Fr. Joe as pastor to St. Andrews Catholic Community in Boulder City, Nevada with the order to build an entirely new complex of church, offices, parish hall, multi-purpose classrooms, and a pastor’s residence. The entire parish center was built and dedicated in 1981.
Irene Hine, MS, MFT, is Director of Pastorial Ministries at St. Andrew’s. She is a state licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and also specializes in Jungian Dream Therapy. Ms. Hine has majors in Literature, Philosophy, Education, Psychology, Theology and Pastoral Ministry. At St. Andrew’s she is Director of Pastoral Ministry, RCIA Director, takes care of marriage preparation and teaches adult education workshops. Ms. Hine has presented numerous workshops and seminars in pastoral ministry, death & dying, dreamwork, spiritual direction, Scripture, and the MBTI.
Jenifer Jefferies, MEd, is Director of Religious Education at St. Andrew’s. She received her Masters in Education from the University of Notre Dame with emphasis on adult education. She teaches computer classes part-time at the community college in Boulder City. Prior to taking the directorship position at St. Andrew’s in 2007, she has been actively involved with the senior high youth as an Adult Catechist Leader. She is married to Anthony Clary and they have 3 children, Maggie, Adam, and Jack.
Juliette Parlow, Pastoral Care Visitor is a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Community based in Los Angeles, CA. Originally from the Midwest, Juliette received her B.A. from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee and her Masters from De Paul University in Chicago. A semi-retired teacher and missionary Juliette now serves as pastoral care visitor to the shut-ins, hospitalized and homebound at St. Andrew’s.
Mary Biggs serves as the Parish Secretary at St. Andrew’s. Prior to taking this position in May of 2003, she retired with 27 years of service with the telephone company in California. 25 of those years was spent in administrative and managerial positions. After retirement, she continued working in administrative positions at her parish in California either as a volunteer or on the parish staff. When her husband, Jerry, retired in 2001, they, along with their son Greg, moved to Boulder City.
